Pantheon means ‘a group of gods’. Linux, Apache, MySQL, Drupal, Varnish, Hudson, Aegir, these Open Source projects are technology titans for web development. The Pantheon project packages them together seamlessly in machine instances instantly available on Amazon EC2.
- Who is working on this?
Pantheon started as a side project of Chapter Three, a Drupal web development consultancy based in San Francisco. It is currently in development by a community of contributors from in/around the Drupal project.
- How do I get involved?
Say hello on our Groups.Drupal.org group.
- Are there any limitations to running Drupal on Amazon EC2?
None that we know of, it just works.
- Can I run Pantheon on Cloud Hosts other than Amazon EC2?
You can use CloudKick’s CloudShift service to port any EC 2 AMI to other Xen-based hosting services such as RackSpace’s SliceHost.
As the project matures, we will be looking to broaden the base of supported services.
- Can you run Pantheon for me/my organization?
Not yet. We’re definitely interested in solving real-world problems with these tools, and are available for consulting around cloud-based infrastructure if you have a need. In the future there may by a service to deliver “Pantheon on demand.”
